BRIC Takes Home a New York Emmy!

Huge congrats to BRIC TV’s #BHeard Docs team for taking home a New York Emmy in the category “Education/Schools – Short or Long Form Content” at the 67th New York Emmy® Awards! The winning documentary, Homeroom Dreams: NYC’s Unhoused Student Crisis, takes you inside Riverdale Avenue Middle School in Brownsville, where Principal Pembroke and her team find new ways to support students experiencing housing insecurity, creating a safe, nurturing space that helps them rise above daily challenges.

Produced by our beloved Sriyanka Ray, with executive producers Ro Johnson and Jonathan Leif, under the leadership of General Manager Kuye Youngblood, this Emmy marks Sriyanka’s first win and thirteenth nomination and is dedicated in her memory, whose heart and vision brought this story to life.

BRIC’s three community media initiatives – BRIC TV, Brooklyn Free Speech TV, and studioBK – received eight nominations this year. Learn more here.
