This summer, BRIC is digging into something fresh—literally. We’re proud to partner with Liberty Farms to bring a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program right to our doorstep in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.
From June through October, every Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12 PM, Liberty Farms will set up shop outside BRIC House with a colorful bounty of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables. Whether you’re already a CSA member or just curious about what farm-fresh food looks like up close, stop by, grab some produce, and soak in the creative energy at BRIC.
So, What Is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it’s one of the most powerful ways to support local, sustainable farming. Here’s how it works: At the start of the season, you purchase a “share” from a farm—in this case, Liberty Farms. In return, you receive a weekly box of produce, harvested just hours earlier and delivered straight from the farm to your hands.
Every week is a bit different, depending on what’s in season. One week it might be leafy greens, zucchini, and radishes; the next, tomatoes, sweet corn, and fragrant herbs. It’s a delicious way to eat with the seasons and discover new ingredients you might not pick up at the store.
Beyond the fresh food, CSAs are about relationships—between people and the land, between farmers and city dwellers, and between neighbors who gather each week over shared meals and stories.
How BRIC’s Community Can Join In
We know that committing to a CSA share might feel like a lot for one person or household. That’s why we’re encouraging our community to partner up with a neighbor or friend and split a share! It’s a great way to reduce waste, try new recipes together, and build connections—both in the kitchen and in the neighborhood.
Already part of a share? Bring someone with you on pickup day. Even if they’re not a member (yet), they can check out the farm stand, buy produce à la carte, and explore the welcoming, art-filled spaces inside BRIC.
There’s no pressure—just good food, good people, and good energy.
More Than Just Veggies
What makes this partnership special is how it brings together BRIC’s creative energy with the sustainable farming practices of Liberty Farms. Located in Columbia County, New York, Liberty Farms is a 600-acre certified organic farm that focuses on regenerative agriculture—prioritizing healthy soil, animal welfare, and strong local communities. They grow a wide range of seasonal produce, raise pasture-fed livestock, and use composting and low-till methods to keep their land thriving for future generations.
On any given Saturday, you might stop by BRIC to pick up some heirloom tomatoes or a dozen eggs, then head inside for an artist talk or a hands-on media workshop. It’s a chance to nourish both your body and your creativity in one trip.
BRIC has always been a space where culture, community, and creativity come together—and now, with fresh, local food in the mix, we’re deepening that connection. Supporting the whole person—mind, body, and community—is at the heart of what we do.
