Phillip Howze and Lisa Robins Named New Board Members at BRIC Arts Media
Acclaimed playwright Howze and financial leader Robins will join other BRIC board members in building Brooklyn’s creative future
August 1, 2023, New York, NY – Today, BRIC, a leading, multi-disciplinary arts and media institution anchored in downtown Brooklyn, announced that Lisa Robins and Phillip Howze have been appointed to BRIC’s Board of Directors. Howze, an acclaimed playwright and previous BRIClab resident, and Robins, a trailblazing leader in banking and former BRIC Member, will bring years of business, leadership, and artistic experience to lead the pioneering arts and media nonprofit.

Phillip Howze is a Brooklyn-based writer, educator, and theater maker whose works include Self Portraits (which premiered at BRIC in 2019) and Frontieres Sans Frontieres (Bushwick Starr). Howze participated in BRIC’s BRIClab Performing Arts residency in 2015 and is a Resident Writer at Lincoln Center/LCT3. Currently, he’s writing new play commissions for the American Repertory Theater, Playwrights Horizons, and Lincoln Center. He was recently appointed the inaugural Associate Senior Lecturer in Playwriting at Harvard University’s Theater, Dance & Media program.
Lisa Robins is a Brooklyn-based Senior Executive, Board Director, and trailblazer in emerging financial markets who is recognized for her special expertise and leadership developing business in global and U.S. domestic roles. In recent years, she was based in Asia (Hong Kong, China, and Singapore) where she effectively led organizations with diverse teams, across multiple geographies, through transformation to embrace change and become cultures of action and collaboration. Her current titles include Senior Advisor, Transaction Banking at Oliver Wyman; Senior Advisor at FinLync; Senior Advisor at Altana AI; and Partner at Prism Global Partners. Robins was Managing Director and Global Head of Transaction Banking (TB) for Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore from 2018 until her retirement from banking in 2021. Robins is a former BRIC Member and is passionate about the arts, drawing, and photography.
