Brooklyn, NY (JUNE 23, 2025) — BRIC, the pioneering arts and media institution based in Brooklyn, is proud to announce the appointment of Susan Jurevics as Chair of its Board of Directors, effective Tuesday, June 24. A visionary leader with deep roots in media, storytelling, and community-centered strategy, Jurevics steps into the role at a pivotal moment for the organization as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

With decades of experience spanning global consumer brands, digital innovation, and mission-driven organizations, Susan brings a unique blend of strategic insight and creative advocacy to BRIC. Her career has included senior leadership roles at Audible, J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore and Sony, as well as board service across the arts and education sectors.

“As I step into this role, my first feeling is one of genuine appreciation—for the trust placed in me, and for BRIC itself, which has become a cornerstone of creativity and culture in Brooklyn,” said Jurevics. “This is an extraordinary time for the organization. As we near our 50th anniversary, I’m energized by the strong foundations already laid and excited to help build Brooklyn’s creative future.”

Founded in 1979, BRIC is one of the leading presenters of free cultural programming in New York City, known for its commitment to supporting artists, amplifying underrepresented voices, and building community through the arts. From the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! summer festival, to its dynamic visual arts programs, media initiatives, and civic engagement work, BRIC has played a vital role in Brooklyn’s creative life.

Susan emphasized the importance of collaboration in the work ahead: “I’m thrilled to partner with the Board, President Wes Jackson, BRIC’s leadership and staff, the Brooklyn creative community, and government leaders to advance our mission. These relationships will be critical in achieving the ambitious goals we’ve set together.”

She also underscored the urgency of the moment: “I believe investment in arts and culture is more important than ever—especially in times of change and challenge. BRIC has always been a home for fearless creativity and inclusive expression, and I’m honored to support its continued growth and impact.”

BRIC President Wes Jackson welcomed the appointment: “Susan has been a trusted voice of wisdom and counsel throughout my three years as President, and her exemplary service to BRIC predates my tenure. She is a deeply respected executive and thought leader who approaches every challenge with precision, seriousness, and rare insight. The staff and I are excited to work alongside her as we guide BRIC into a new era of growth and opportunity, especially as we approach our 50th anniversary. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Michael Liburd, our outgoing Chair, for his dedicated service and leadership over the years.”

In addition to Susan’s appointment, BRIC is also pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Directors: Lynn Gonzalez and John Siegal. Gonzalez, a Partner at Granderson Des Rochers, is an experienced entertainment attorney and music executive with deep expertise in dealmaking, content strategy, and intellectual property. Siegal, a Partner at BakerHostetler, is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer with three decades of experience representing clients in the media, financial services, and real estate sectors.

A woman is depicted in a black and white portrait, wearing a tailored black blazer. Her hair is styled in loose waves, framing her face. She has a confident expression, with subtle makeup highlighting her features. Around her neck, she wears two delicate necklaces, one with a star pendant and the other with a circular charm. The background is softly blurred, emphasizing her presence in the foreground.

On these new appointments, BRIC President Wes Jackson shared, “I’ve known Lynn Gonzalez through many chapters of her professional life—from her early days as a pillar of the local radio scene at WNYU to her continued rise as a seasoned legal expert. She brings to BRIC not only a wealth of experience in entertainment and intellectual property law, but also a lifelong commitment to community and the arts.”

A man with curly gray hair and a beard is wearing a light-colored suit and a tie with a subtle pattern. He is smiling and standing against a plain background. The overall appearance is professional and approachable.

“I’ve also had the pleasure of knowing John Siegel for several years, and his extensive record of Board leadership and civic engagement across New York speaks for itself. He brings a deep well of knowledge and a clear passion for the arts and music—one that is shared by his entire family. Both Lynn and John are invaluable additions to our Board, and we’re proud to welcome them into the BRIC family,” said Jackson.

BRIC extends its heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Chair Michael Liburd, whose years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment have helped guide the organization through a period of transformative growth. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening BRIC’s foundation and vision, and the organization is deeply grateful for his enduring support.
