Accessibility

BRIC strives towards facilitating the accessibility and inclusivity of both our physical spaces and our website for all peoples. If you have questions or feedback about the accessibility of BRIC House, bricartsmedia.org, or any particular page on the BRIC site, please contact us at [email protected].

BRIC HOUSE SPACE ACCESS

BRIC House’s main entrance uses accessible, power-assist doors located on Rockwell Place. The lobby contains an accessible, non-gendered, single-user/family restroom located in the North Hallway. Additional men’s and women’s restrooms are available 20 steps down the staircase at the back of the North Hallway. The Gallery level is accessible via platform lift with assistance from our Visitor Experience Attendant (VEA) or Security Staff. Masks are provided near the entrance for all guests.

The Community Media Center, located on the 2nd floor, can be accessed via our elevator located in the lobby or by going 24 steps up the stairs in the North Hallway. The Center also contains bathrooms accessible to the public.

Guide dogs and other trained service animals are welcome at BRIC HOUSE, excluding pets and emotional support animals.

The BRIC Visitor Guide includes photos and maps so guests can experience the space virtually before visiting in person.

EVENT TICKETING

Tickets for BRIC events are available for purchase via our website or at the door (card only).

EVENT/PROGRAM ACCESSIBILITY

We offer live transcriptions and/or ASL for a majority of the events held at BRIC House and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! The availability of the services and interpreters will be noted on each event’s page on our website. These services may also be available upon request with advance notice if the event page does not indicate so. Post-program transcripts are available for all transcribed programs.

Portable FM assistive listening devices are available for programs in the Stoop and in the Ballroom upon request.

BRIC House also offers a low-stimulation room at most events for guests who may need to take a sensory break or rest during an event. The room contains items that may help with overstimulation like fidget toys, headphones, coloring activities, and more.

To make specific access requests for an in-person or virtual program, please contact [email protected] two weeks prior to the event of interest.
