BRIClab 2026-2027 Contemporary Art Artists

Amelia Galgon is a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY whose work layers painting and printmaking to examine the complex forces that shape people, particularly as they relate to gender and sexuality. They received their B.A. in Art and B.S in Computer Science in 2017 at Lehigh University. Their paintings were recently presented in The European Cultural Centre’s 2026 Art Biennial in Venice, Italy. They received the award for Excellence in Watercolor from Philadelphia Sketch Club in 2021 and were a resident at Vermont Studio Center in 2022. Their paintings have been published in I Like Your Work, Maake Magazine and Create! Magazine and were featured in art fairs and exhibitions, including with The Other Art Fair, I Like Your Work, 440 Gallery, WB Gallery, Deanna Evans Projects, Curina, Tussle Projects, Visionary Art Collective, Philadelphia Sketch Club, and Riverside Festival of the Arts.

Born and raised in New York City, Ava Tuitt is a visual artist and writer based in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate from Purchase College with her B.F.A in Painting + Drawing her work focuses on visual meditations on the body as it relates to the metaphysical, physical,social and technological. Through her art, she skillfully weaves together diverse elements, both material and digital to create thought-provoking narratives that challenge societal patterns and ignite conversations.Constructing what she calls “gender instigations ' her practice inserts and asserts the black trans body as a perpetual entity and explores the formation of personal identity as collective and collaborative ritual.

Ha Neul On is a multi disciplinary artist, born in South Korea and based in Brooklyn, NY, who works as a photographer, printmaker, and textile artist. Their current body of work consists of quilted tapestries featuring cyanotype prints of their photos, sewn together in the traditional Korean quilting style known as jogakbo.

Sunny Leerasanthanah works across moving image, photography, and installation, integrating performance, research, objects, archives, sound, and text. Their projects explore the permeability and thresholds of different borders that shape our sense of belonging, identity, and survival. Past works include Thai immigrant strangers roleplaying as their late father; satirical films about xenophobia featuring fictional park rangers and python hunters; mining for motifs in archival media; documentation of Sisyphean foraging crabs; and an immersive installation at a PreK-12 school gallery.

Sunny has presented solo exhibitions at Cuchifritos Gallery (2026), Anne Reid ‘72 Gallery (2025), Smack Mellon (2024), and John Michael Kohler Arts Center (2023). They’re a recipient of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grant (2026), BRIClab Residency (2026), Artists Alliance Inc. LES Studio Program (2024-25), Center for Book Arts Residency (2023-24), Image Text Workshop Residency (2023), Fire Island Artist Residency (2022), and Queens Council on the Arts Grant (2021). They’ve exhibited and screened works at SculptureCenter, Asia Art Archive in America, Bureau of General Services Queer Division, Lubov Gallery (Projects), and Handwerker Gallery.

Kevin Quiles Bonilla (b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Through photography, performance and installation, his works explore ideas around power, colonialism, and history with his identity as context. He received a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus (2015) and an MFA in Fine Arts from Parsons The New School for Design (2018). He has presented his work at the Brooklyn Museum, Queens Museum, Lincoln Center and Ford Foundation. Recent solo shows include Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT (2021), Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural Center, Bronx, NY (2022), and Baxter St at the Camera Club of New York (2024). He has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Arts + Disability Residency (2018-2019); LMCC Workspace Residency (2019-2020); Smack Mellon Artist Studio Program (2022-2023); NYLAAT Residency Program (2023); Monira Foundation Residency (2024) and The Art Center at Governors Island (2024), as well as a fellow at En Foco Inc Photography Fellowship (2021); EmergeNYC (2021); Art Matters Artist2Artist Fellowship (2023); Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop Kahn|Mason SIP Fellowship (2024) and the AIM Fellowship at The Bronx Museum of Art (2026). His work has been featured in Hyperallergic, The Washington Post, BOMB Magazine and The Guardian. He lives and works between New York and Puerto Rico.
