After 2021’s sell out festival, BRIC’s annual Jazzfest is returning for its eighth year October 20-22. This year’s star-studded lineup is co-curated by performer Maurice Brown along with BRIC Producer Viviana Benitez and Winter JazzFest Founder Brice Rosenbloom. Artists slated to perform include: acclaimed vocalist Lizz Wright, experimental Jazz musician José James performing the music of Erykah Badu, avant-garde jazz music artist HERA Led by Chelsea Baratz, Trumpet sensation Maurice “Mobetta” Brown, vocalists Angel Bat Dawid & Viktor le Givens, award-winning tuba player and composer Theon Cross, multi-instrumentalist Matthew Whitaker, Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based vibraphonist Joel Ross, Singer, composer, pianist, Afro Cuban dancer, actress, and educator Melvis Santa, and more!
One of BRIC’s premiere performing arts programs, BRIC JazzFest 2022 is a three-day music festival that will bring together jazz world legends, rising stars, and emerging musical geniuses. These artists are pushing the boundaries of the jazz genre, some through the lens and influence of hip hop and others through a musical style all their own. The sell-out BRIC JazzFest 2021 was the festival’s return to BRIC House following a virtual pivot during the pandemic.
BRIC will announce more artists to join the lineup in the coming weeks.

Wes Jackson, BRIC President, said:
“BRIC Jazzfest is a great example of how careful and thoughtful curation can meet inspiring vision. It’s a great way to activate BRIC House and welcome our community into our cultural home as we continue to establish BRIC as the hub for creatives in Brooklyn and beyond. We’re committed to supporting both emerging and established artists, exploring new sounds and energies, and defining and redefining what jazz itself means. This is the exciting work that invigorates me, the whole BRIC JazzFest team, and is at the heart of what we do at BRIC each and every day.”
Viviana Benitez, BRIC JazzFest Producer, said:
“Our love and deep esteem for music and musicians is at the core of this year’s curatorial vision for BRIC JazzFest. It’s a thrill and a privilege to bring together artists at this growing festival and present artists who will debut new work and push the boundaries of the jazz genre. We are looking forward to sharing moments of reflection, discovery, joy, positivity and possibility with each and every one of you!”
Maurice Brown, BRIC JazzFest Guest Curator, said:
“Brice Rosenbloom, Viviana Benitez and I have been brainstorming to bring you the best BRIC festival yet! We have put together some amazing configurations and music fueled by hip hop and the next generation of artists that are pushing the boundaries. This year it has been our goal to create a cultural melting pot. Blending different sounds from around the world and bringing it’s all back to our home Brooklyn. This year’s festival will be one for the books!”
