#BHeard Amplified 2.0, a new edition of our award-winning educational series, is presented in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. With generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, we’ve introduced our podcasting curriculum to Brooklyn’s Arabic-speaking community in Bay Ridge. In the spring of 2021, we partnered with Arab American Association NY and Yemeni American Merchants Association to bring free online podcasting classes to the neighborhood. Producer Sriyanka Ray, music producer Karim Douaidy, and filmmaker Jude Chehab led the course.

#BHeard Amplified, a program inspired by BRIC’s #BHeard Town Hall series, combines the power of media and community conversation to foster citizen engagement in important civic issues.

#BHeard Amplified meets emerging producers where they live, and gives them the tools and the know-how to tell the stories that they think matter most. Producer Sriyanka Ray, Karim Douaidy, and filmmaker Jude Chehab spent 13 weeks in Brooklyn’s Arabic-speaking community in Bay Ridge teaching a small group of residents how to develop a podcast. Hear #BHeard Amplified stories from our Bay Ridge community producers.
