Dinosaur Jr. was founded in 1984 and the group emerged among the most highly regarded in alternative rock. By reintroducing volume and attack in his songs, Mascis shed the strict limitations of early 1980s hardcore, becoming an influence on the burgeoning grunge movement. Mascis' body of work continues to inspire a generation of guitar players and songwriters today.

When the original line up of Mascis, Lou Barlow on bass and drummer Murph re-formed in 2005 for select live dates it was apparent that the years apart had not eroded any of their vitality. Restoring the sound established by the opening hat-trick gambit of Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me, and Bug, 2007's Beyond continued the band's march into rock greatness by making old ears smile and new ears bleed afresh. The original lineup has now released five studio albums since their reunion, most recently 2021’s “Sweep It Into Space” on Jagjaguwar Records.

Lindsey Jordan's 2018 debut album Lush established her ability to blend confidence with vulnerability, making a lasting impact. On her sophomore album Valentine, released November 5th, Jordan amplifies this trajectory with a mix of bold pop and introspective moments. Written over 2019-2020, Valentine showcases her unique originality in a genre dominated by formulaic pop. After a stay in rehab, Jordan began shaping the album out of memory and imagination, bringing it to life with co-producer Brad Cook.

The album leans into synths and samples, with standout tracks like "Ben Franklin" and "Madonna" offering inventive pop. Meanwhile, more delicate songs like "c.et. al." and "Mia" highlight Jordan’s songwriting depth. The album also features guitar-driven rock songs such as "Automate" and "Glory," blending her earlier sound with new intensity. Valentine reflects both her growth and healing, encapsulating a period of immense personal transformation. Through grief, recovery, and reflection, Jordan crafts an album that’s both powerful and poignant, capturing the complexity of love and loss.
