Grammy-winning DJ, producer, remixer, and label owner Terry Hunter stands as one of the most influential figures in House Music culture. Born and raised in Chicago, the birthplace of House, Hunter’s career spans more than four decades, helping shape the sound and global reach of the genre while remaining deeply rooted in its soulful foundation.

Terry began his journey as a teenage DJ in Chicago, quickly earning opportunities to open for legendary pioneers including Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles. In 1990, he released his first production, “Madness,” a breakthrough that launched his international DJ career and established him as one of the city’s rising talents.

Over the years, Terry evolved into one of dance music’s most respected remixers and producers, crafting celebrated work for artists including Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Common, Ledisi, Yolanda Adams, Raheem DeVaughn, Estelle, and many more. Terry also established a creative partnership with Masters At Work’s Kenny Dope, resulting in collaborative projects that have stood the test of time.  His signature sound — rooted in soul, rhythm, musicality, and emotional connection — has made him a trusted collaborator across genres.

In 2004, Terry founded his influential imprint T’s Box Records, further cementing his role as a tastemaker and curator within House Music culture. One year later, he joined the iconic Chosen Few DJs, becoming part of one of the most important institutions in House Music history. Terry has played a key role in the growth of the Chosen Few Picnic & Festival, helping transform it from a small reunion gathering into a world-renowned event drawing tens of thousands annually to Chicago’s South Side.

His accomplishments as a producer and remixer have earned widespread critical acclaim. Terry received 4 Grammy nominations for Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul,” Mariah Carey’s “Workin Hard,” Yolanda Adams’ “Church Doors,” and Jennifer Hudson’s “It’s Your World.” He additionally earned an NAACP Image Award for his work on Aretha Franklin’s final studio album, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Songs. In 2023, Terry secured his first Grammy win as a producer on J. Ivy’s acclaimed spoken word album The Light Inside.

Always pushing creatively, Terry co-founded Mirror Ball Recordings in 2019 alongside partner Emmaculate. The label quickly emerged as a respected force in global House Music, known for championing authentic artistry while bridging generations of soulful dance music culture.  The label boasts an artist roster that includes DJ Jazzy Jeff, Melba Moore, Deon Cole, Avant, Chantay Savage, Terisa Griffin, DRAMA, and more.
