One more stop before you head back to your routine – BRIC Family Day: Back to School! 

This fun-filled event is designed to inspire creativity and excitement for the upcoming school year for your little ones, with a whole bunch of activities, including – 

  • Notebook Ninjas: Cut and paste your favorite images onto a notebook to take back to school.
  • BRIColoring: Color fun images of our building!
  • Bestie Bracelet Making: DIY bracelets to give to your friends this school year.
  • Back to School Picture: Say cheese and smile, cuz we’re taking your child’s back to school picture at BRIC for free!
  • Post a note: Write an inspiring note or drawing for your peers.
  • UrbanGlass Show & Tell: Have you ever noticed all the glass you encounter every day in the city? Explore the fascinating world of glass art with a hands-on look at a variety of glass objects and conversations with UrbanGlass educators.
  • UrbanGlass Community Mosaics: Help us bring the Brooklyn skyline to life! Learn the basics of glass mosaics while working together to complete a colorful community mosaic celebrating downtown Brooklyn.
  • Community Media Tours: Join us for a tour of our state-of-the-art TV, Media, and Podcasting studios.
  • Nature Prints: Make sun prints utilizing Brooklyn native plants and herbs.
  • Sewing Workshop: Learn sewing basics and contribute to our collaborative project, Letters To Brooklyn!
  • Community Mural: Collaborate with your family and contribute to our back to school community mural.
  • BRIC Building Scavenger Hunt: Find architectural features of our building pictured in the scavenger hunt and win a prize!

Join us for a day of creativity, learning, and community as we celebrate the new school year!

BRIC Family Day: Back To School is organized in partnership with the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center for phase one of Historias, a multi-year programmatic initiative celebrating the transformative impact of Latinx communities in NYC through research, artistic interpretations, and public engagement. In September, more details on Historias and the full program for Fall 2024 will be announced at theclementecenter.org/historias.
