Event Info
The Afrolatino Festival NYC returns July 22–26, 2026 with a focused program of local and transnational collaborations. Under the theme “The Cultural Economies of Diaspora,” the festival has joined forces with numerous cultural institutions and organizations including Summer Stage at Central Park, the Caribbean Cultural Center and African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), BRIC, Festival Latinidades (Brazil), SOB’s, Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, McCarter Theater, and Joe’s Pub.
On Saturday, July 25, the Afrolatino Festival is taking over BRIC House from 2–9PM. In celebration of the inaugural NYC Konpa Day and the new Little Panama Cultural District, we present sounds by the Kon Salsa Party featuring DJ Khalil (Tingz NYC), Sabine Blaizin (Oyasound), and DJ Famoso (I Love Salsa).
The concert is preceded by the annual Afrolatin Talks, which includes a panel on transnational collaborations with Summerstage, a discussion about Festival Latinidades and the Petronio Alvarez Festival, and a book talk by journalist, V.P. of the Grio, and CNN contributor Natasha Alford. Plus, catch a special screening of the documentary Afrolatinas: 30 Years in Movements, presented by Festival Latinidades, which honors July 25 as the International Day of Afro-Latin American, Afro-Caribbean, and Diaspora Women, as well as the 2nd Annual Pepper Sauce Pop-up with global and local heat purveyors.
