About the Filmmakers
Dirty Days in Fun City
Using entirely archival media, Dirty Days in Fun City unearths two sanitation worker strikes and their little-known connection to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through its exploration of labor and waste, the film examines what and who society deems valuable or disposable.
The Sixth Boro
The Sixth Borough is a poetic documentary exploring New York City’s relationship with water through the coastal communities of the Rockaways and Canarsie. Told through the eyes of Elijah Norwood, a Rockaway native, the film moves through intimate portraits and reflections on memory, ecology, and belonging to consider how the shoreline shapes both personal and collective histories.
Blending cinematic realism with spiritual reflection, The Sixth Borough traces connections between community, environment, and ancestral memory, offering a meditative look at life along the city’s waterfronts.
Featuring local residents, organizers, and voices connected to the water, The Sixth Borough reimagines the shoreline as a living archive shaped by migration, survival, and care. At its core, the film is a meditation on respect for the ocean and humanity’s enduring search for connection through water.
