Alternative metal band Mastodon meets opera composer Jake Heggie—whose Moby-Dick will have its Met premiere on March 3. This special event celebrates Melville’s ability to bridge musical genres. Following the 20th anniversary of their landmark album Leviathan, Mastodon members join Heggie to discuss Moby-Dick as a shared source of inspiration. Brooklyn composer and rocker Tamar-kali Brown adds her perspective, while metal aficionado and opera composer David T. Little moderates the conversation.
