Travels Over Feeling: Celebrating Arthur Russell

Wordless Music Orchestra is the house band of New York's Wordless Music series. Since its founding in 2006 by Ronen Givony, it has presented concerts around the world, pairing artists from the sound worlds of classical and contemporary music including Jonny Greenwood, Gavin Bryars, and John Adams, and collaborating with artists ranging from John Cale and Jóhann Jóhannsson to Barry Jenkins and Jane Campion.

Bill Ruyle, who will helm the ensemble as conductor, has been a percussionist, composer, and collaborator for new music, dance, and theater in New York City and abroad for nearly five decades. In that time, he has performed extensively on and off-Broadway and in the ensembles of Peter Zummo, Arthur Russell, Jon Gibson, “Blue” Gene Tyranny, and countless others. His own compositions and modern dance scores have been performed nationally and internationally, and he has taught in numerous educational outreach programs.

Love Injection, co-founded by Barbie Bertisch and Paul Raffaele in 2015 is variously known as a publication, a radio show, a DJ partnership, and a record label, but at its core it’s an offering – by and for the music and nightlife communities of New York City and anyone in kinship with them.
