Trokon Nagbe is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist and former BRIC Visual Artist in Residence who was born in Liberia, West Africa. Marrying performance and sculpture together, his large-scale works on paper and plastic are ripped, burned, and chewed to the point where the resulting object expresses both the destructive energy as well as fragile state of one’s body and soul. His installation in the Project Room will include sculpture, sound, and video.
The installation was conceived in dialog with the concurrent gallery exhibition Look up here, I’m in heaven.
Project Room exhibitions highlight solo projects by emerging artists whose work encompasses a rich range of themes and media.
