ABOUT EMERGING CREATORS

Emerging Creators is BRIC’s yearly student exhibition celebrating the work of young artists and media makers from BRIC’s Youth Education Residency Programs in public schools and community centers across Brooklyn and beyond.

This year’s student exhibition showcases a selection of the work created by over 800 young artists. BRIC Teaching Artists partner with more than 40 schools and 12 community-based organizations every year, located across 23 Brooklyn neighborhoods to deliver quality arts education. Emerging Creators is a platform for youth voices exploring diverse topics including community,  identity, activism and current events. Our young artists experimented in a wide range of media, including: mosaic, mixed media, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, podcasting, animation, and filmmaking, to produce artworks that explored the issues and events shaping the post-pandemic world.

BRIC House is a one-stop shop for emerging creators and equips its partners to innovate and document the artistic growth of our youth. The mission of the Youth Education & Family Programs Department is to work  with underserved communities and under-resourced schools  to nurture creativity while providing accessibility to media education, technology, equipment and career exploration. This exhibition embodies the creative courage, thoughtfulness, and resiliency of the youth.

ABOUT THE WORLD REFLECTED IN YOUR EYES

Youth Curatorial Exhibition: The World, Reflected In Your Eyes is an immersive exhibition about our realities. What are your revolutionary ideas for the future? What problems are we trying to solve? What do you want out of this reality? The room will be split into two sides: one side is a natural, blooming dreamscape. The other side is industrial, steampunk; this is open to interpretation. Together, the two sides represent imagination for multiple futures. The future is open to interpretation, based on the effects of the social challenges of the present. The Youth Curatorial Fellowship invites young up-and-coming artists to share their views on the present and their visions for the future. How do you want our world and your world to look in the future?

BRIC Youth Media Festival: 10th Annual Concrete Stories, is an immersive film festival curated by and featuring young storytellers.
