BRIClab Performing Arts Residency

• A stipend of $2500.
• A 12-day residency in the BRIC House Artist Studio (hours are approximately 8AM – 10PM, daily).
• Technical support for load-in and load-out, plus 12 hours of production support for rehearsal and performances.
• Support from residency staff to coordinate all aspects of the residency and performances.
• A stipend for a mentor and a creative advisor, relevant to the project. Mentor and advisor will be determined in collaboration with BRIC staff.
• Work-in-process sharing(s) in the Artist Studio at BRIC House.
• Professional photographic documentation of public sharings, plus marketing support.

• Artist Studio: a flexible space on the ground floor that is used for creating, rehearsing, exhibiting, and performing across multiple disciplines. This 1,400 square-foot room measures 27’ x 52’ and has a 12′ ceiling height, with a 10’ 9” high grid.

You must be:

• A New York City based creative, 18 years of age or older.
• Working on a performing arts piece that is in the middle of its development.
• Willing to meet with BRIC Production crew and staff to coordinate load in, load out, and production requirements prior to and during your residency (2-4 meetings).
• Willing to present work-in-progress to the public as part of the residency program.
• Not currently enrolled in a degree program.
• Not a previous BRIClab: Performing Arts resident artist.

We are interested in:

• New work in the performing arts that is relevant to diverse Brooklyn audiences.
• Feasible residency goals that make use of the Artist Studio and its capabilities and reflect a commitment to process.
• Artists who are excited to share their work with the public and embrace dialogue with audiences as a meaningful part of their process.
• Work that reflects thoughtful, creative, and/or innovative processes.

• Artist Studio Accessibility: The Artist Studio is housed within BRIC House at 647 Fulton St, and has an accessible entrance on Rockwell Place. The Artist Studio is located on the ground floor and is accessible, with an accessible, all-gender restroom on the same level.
• BRIC is working towards live captioning, via CART, for all performances, and will work with artists to make performances as accessible as possible for artists and audiences.

Evaluation will be based on how the goals of the proposed projects match up with resources available; relevant work samples; anfad the creation of diverse and representative cohorts. Artists will receive final word from BRIC by the end of June 2023.
